about

Few albums have been as eagerly awaited as Drumcorps' second album. Coming out nine years after “Grist” (Ad Noiseam adn70, 2006), “Falling Forward” looks to the future while staying true to the project's heavy guitar music roots. Dense riffs, vocals, melody, guest musicians and a diverse array of modern electronics combine with concise songwriting to form a complete work of integrity. The result is powerful, cohesive, and tender: a class of its own which keeps all the elements which made “Grist” a success and develops them further, confirming Drumcorps' position as not only a perfectionist, but also an innovator.

This album was originally available from the Ad Noiseam store, and is now available here.

Track Name: Cradle to Grave
i heard the call
since i was young
all this can be yours
little pup

filled me with dread
even then i knew
that our blood just
trickles up

cradle to grave
you got the fucking crave
nothing’s gonna save you now
they run you high and low
strip mine your loving soul
it’s all you know

they program in image
spiritual violence
and it never stops
not for a day

but when that bullshit’s
coming down
from someone that i love
i gotta get myself away
to somewhere i feel safe

cradle to grave
i’m counting down the days
they try to make us doubt we’re one
they steal our youth away
we build for better days
that never ever come

cradle to grave
throw that bullshit away
we got to be the ones to save us now
i taught myself to fight
someone show me how to live
right now
Track Name: Open Arms
how did we get here?
inside the city gate
locked in the highest tower
building something they can’t take

we made a great big flame
we sang the old old songs
chanting down the pain
with open arms

i have no defense
that is a defense
i killed off all my pride
& i feel clean inside

but there’s something in you that isn’t you
all those colors make it hard to see
deeper than the void
& darker than the sea

they say everything is okay
they say everything is just fine
but we’re locked away in boxes
of our own design

they pull on all our strings
& say it’s all good
but i can’t look away
like i should

they say everything is okay
they say everything is just fine
but they’re building castle walls
for fools like us to climb

& when they try to break us
make us fall in line
i will lay out my love
like pearls
Track Name: Choose Again
does anyone have a light?
‘cause i’m trying hard to see
i know when i’m done with my past
but when is it done with me?

coming down from the clouds
silent machine memory
but if we can’t forget
how can we be free?

always there
station
choose again
station

what happens when we die?
i don’t know but i think they know
some say we go up to the sky
some say way down low

i think our thoughts scatter
ones who love hold the flame
our actions live in antimatter
the cycle starts again
Track Name: Built for War
no more no more
these arms weren’t built for war
Track Name: The Path
strike me down
right now
but i won’t feel a thing

cut me down
right now
those words don’t even sting

‘cause there is no choice
no boxed life made to order
there is no crawling back
only falling forward

there is no choice
there is no choice

the path is long
the path is all
Track Name: Holy Morning
in love
love you
but you said
we’re through

through everything
each and every year
we traced crosses in the sky
right before taking flight my dear

dear night
please stay a little longer
where we go tomorrow
soft sighs will make us stronger

& now stray light
catches on your neck
and i’ll remember this moment
'til my dying breath

your eyes are bright
now bright light
spills from the window
to the corner of our bed

this is my favorite time
to see you darling
before your layers come on like dew
& down at our roots
something’s burning blue

this is forever
we know it whatever we say
but right now you don’t have a light
to burn down your old ways

now you’re smoking and you’re staring
and you’re wearing worn out things
you get up and leave the bed
on painted wings
