Falling Forward

foxide At times this sounds similar to Mick Gordon's work in the Doom reboot soundtracks. But holistically this album goes in a very different direction and it's no imitation as this was released first. Highly recommended regardless.
FLESH MECHANIC
FLESH MECHANIC thumbnail
FLESH MECHANIC Glitchy breakcore electronica and HM-2 hooked guitars with slight nu-metal influences, that's Falling Forward for you. Ranging from mean riffs on songs like Open Arms and Built for War, to fierce drums on The Path or just straight up electronic inferno on Got The Row or With Sticks and Stones, this is one of the best electronic albums of the 2010s. I've been listening to it for years and I'm proud to finally own it. Meant to be played loud! Favorite track: Built for War.

Open Arms 03:55
how did we get here? inside the city gate locked in the highest tower building something they can’t take we made a great big flame we sang the old old songs chanting down the pain with open arms i have no defense that is a defense i killed off all my pride & i feel clean inside but there’s something in you that isn’t you all those colors make it hard to see deeper than the void & darker than the sea they say everything is okay they say everything is just fine but we’re locked away in boxes of our own design they pull on all our strings & say it’s all good but i can’t look away like i should they say everything is okay they say everything is just fine but they’re building castle walls for fools like us to climb & when they try to break us make us fall in line i will lay out my love like pearls

does anyone have a light? ‘cause i’m trying hard to see i know when i’m done with my past but when is it done with me? coming down from the clouds silent machine memory but if we can’t forget how can we be free? always there station choose again station what happens when we die? i don’t know but i think they know some say we go up to the sky some say way down low i think our thoughts scatter ones who love hold the flame our actions live in antimatter the cycle starts again

Holy Morning 04:25
in love love you but you said we’re through through everything each and every year we traced crosses in the sky right before taking flight my dear dear night please stay a little longer where we go tomorrow soft sighs will make us stronger & now stray light catches on your neck and i’ll remember this moment 'til my dying breath your eyes are bright now bright light spills from the window to the corner of our bed this is my favorite time to see you darling before your layers come on like dew & down at our roots something’s burning blue this is forever we know it whatever we say but right now you don’t have a light to burn down your old ways now you’re smoking and you’re staring and you’re wearing worn out things you get up and leave the bed on painted wings

about

Few albums have been as eagerly awaited as Drumcorps' second album. Coming out nine years after “Grist” (Ad Noiseam adn70, 2006), “Falling Forward” looks to the future while staying true to the project's heavy guitar music roots. Dense riffs, vocals, melody, guest musicians and a diverse array of modern electronics combine with concise songwriting to form a complete work of integrity. The result is powerful, cohesive, and tender: a class of its own which keeps all the elements which made “Grist” a success and develops them further, confirming Drumcorps' position as not only a perfectionist, but also an innovator.

This album was originally available from the Ad Noiseam store, and is now available here.
